Smile & Solr
Smile & Solr, an avalanche of different projects!
Smile integrated the solution Apache Solr more than 10 years ago. A forerunner in several domains such as e-commerce, members of the Smile team were lucky enough, in 2008, to manage the first integrations of the solution (with Magento for the Furet du Nord and Gibert Joseph chains of bookstores).
90% of the e-commerce sites created by Smile use Solr, and in addition several other types of project have been handled such as the connection to an ERP (for FeuVert), the centralisation of the multibrand hotel search function (for Louvre Hotels Group), and navigation in a professional social network (for BPI France).
Smile, always willing to share its know-how on Solr technology, accompanies and trains its clients on advanced usage including clients such as la Bibliothèque Nationale de France, (France’s national library) l'INSEE and ColiPoste

Solr, a dynamic open source solution that’s always moving!
Solr is a sub-project of the Lucene project managed by the Apache foundation. They share with each other the timings of releases, version numbering, and their developers.
Lucene was also selected by its competitor ElasticSearch, for its maximum reliability.
Solr is constantly developing with new releases every 6 to 8 weeks to ensure that it is always offering new possibilities such as research graph, complex processing in streaming, or multidimensional indexing.
Used to managing heavy loads and volumes of information, Solr is at the heart of Bloomberg’s financial news, of Ebay and Netflix’s search functions, and also at the heart of distribution of Big Data with HortonWorks, partner of Smile, or with Cloudera.
