NEWLOC

Design a connected box and an IoT platform to manage a fleet of equipment

Newloc, a subsidiary of the Dubreuil Group, manages a fleet of 8,000 rental equipment on the West. Newloc has implemented a program to improve the management of this park.

The challenge ? Facilitate the management & monitoring of a fleet of equipment, offer new services to customers and stand out from the competition.

This program allows Newloc to collect information in order to maintain and track its equipment, efficiently organize material recovery, regulate its use and detect theft.

The challenge for Smile?
Provide 4000 connected boxes
Set up a hosted data collection platform

A tailor-made solution for any event

The boxes collect data in real time: voltages, positions, hours and operating states, temperatures, alerts, etc. They are robust and autonomous in case of power failure.

The major challenge of the project was in the great diversity of the park. The housings had to be versatile and collect data independently of the machine architecture.

A unique algorithmhas been designed to detect the phases of use whatever the type of material.

The volume of data is shared and reassembled on a cloud platform that exposes Newloc a set of interfaces to consult.

1 PARK OF HETEROGENEOUS MACHINERY

MATERIALS USED ON ALL TYPES OF TERRITORY (URBAN, RURAL, IN BUILDINGS OR NOT)

CONFIDENTIAL COLLECTED DATA

1 solution developed both on the aspect electronic than software

Mobile App developedto configure the remote boxes

Using the network 2G and 3G

Secure Communications between boxes and IoT platform through certificates & data encryption

Immediate benefits

1ST FRENCH RENTAL TO PROVIDE CUSTOMERS WITH AN EXTRANET
The platform makes it possible to reserve materials, to buy construction tools, to access statistics of purchases and to geolocate live its equipment in hiring.
OPTIMIZED BUSINESS TRANSPORT
By equipping its delivery trucks with connected boxes, Newloc geolocates in real time the equipment to be recovered and the logistical means available. It's not all ! It also limits the financial and environmental impact of its business (nearly 50 delivery trucks).
SOLUTION & STRATEGY PÉRENNE
The enclosures and the IoT platform have been designed to be scalable. Thus, after the installation of the boxes and the first operational results observed, Newloc is already imagining new uses and services that can be directly implemented.

"With our service provider SMILE, we have designed a tool that perfectly matches our commercial and technical issues. Our equipment is also subject to theft, geolocation is a commercial argument, because we bring an innovative solution in terms of site security to the user user who is legally and fi nancially responsible for the equipment made available. From a technical point of view, the diversity of our equipment and the extreme conditions of use have been handled by the SMILE teams, who have given us their expertise for the design of this solution.

The concept of algorithm (identi fi cation on / off battery voltage) was for us very important, because it allowed us on many ranges to significantly reduce the installation time on our fleet, and reduce the costs of these facilities by our technicians. Finally, the data collected and stored allow us today to consider many other applications in terms of logistics, technical (predictive maintenance) ".
